Responsibilities
The YES expert will perform the following tasks:
- Assess of current state of affairs in tourism statistics
- Provide recommendations for improvement of tourism statistics
- Review the methodology on tourism statistics
- Review the forms for the tourism statistics collection
- Develop a Roadmap for improvement of tourism statistics including possible actions for the introduction of TSA
- Communicate and collaborate with wide range of stakeholders, such as agencies that produce statistics and supply basic tourism information, tourism enterprises, etc. In performing the above-mentioned tasks, the Young Expert will have the following responsibilities:
- With support of the Project Leader (e.g. Group Leader of the CSI or Senior Level Manager in the National Statistics Service) and the YES Armenia Programme Manager, develop a detailed work plan with deliverables and outcomes for the project "Improvement of Tourism Statistics (Leading to Stronger Evidence –Based Policy in Tourism) " (hereafter project) implementation
- Review the project deliverable, outcomes, and schedule with senior management of a ministry /agency and all relevant stakeholders
- Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders
- Execute the project according to the project plan
- Develop forms, records, and files to document project activities and information collected
- Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
- Write reports on the project for management and other stakeholders
- Ensure that the project outcomes and deliverables are on time (in line with the work plan) and of the proper quality level
- Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor
RequiredQualifications
- Master's Degree in Tourism Management, Project Management, Business Administration, Statistics or other related area
- At least 2 years of work experience in Tourism Management, Project Management (preferably in the area of tourism), Business Administration, Statistics or other related area
- Knowledge of Project Management basics Skills:
- Ability to write reports, develop work plans and other documentation
- Critical thinking ability and problem solving mindset
- Effective communication skills, including ability to work with high level officials and presentation skills both oral and in writing
- Good time management and prioritizing, organizing skills
- Good researching and drafting skills
- Good computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, internet
- Good knowledge of Armenian and English Eligibility:
- Be young Armenian citizen and/or Armenian living in Diaspora between the age of 25 and 35 (in exceptional cases the age limit can be reviewed)
- Applicants shall have fulfilled any obligation concerning military service according to applicable laws of countries of citizenship or give assurances to the effect that they will not be called up during their traineeship
- Have no criminal record which has not been removed or cleared by the prescribed procedure
